Basic Necessities has a wine cellar of select imported and domestic wines.
Feel free to browse, or ask your server for advice. Basic's Kay Pfaltz is
happy to help with your selection of the perfect wine with your meal.
There is a $7 corkage fee for bottled wines served on premise. But "it's a
great way to try a wine that might be prohibitively expensive in a
restaurant, at retail cost."
About our Corkage Fee: We are a retail shop/ restaurant so we feel we
can't (and don't want to) charge the standard 100% - 300% markup that
restaurants do on alcohol. Standard retail markup is 30%. Therefore, we
encourage you to treat us as a wine bar. This is a chance to try that $30
bottle (which becomes only $37 with the corkage) that would cost you
$80-90 in a restaurant. This is one of the great assets of Basic
Necessities, but not everyone realizes.
We also serve local and imported beers, hard cider, local kombucha, soft
drinks, sparkling water, iced tea, and coffee.
